Influence of design parameters of upstream Venturi pipeline on multiphase flow measurement

A multiphase flowmeter (MPFM) is used in the upstream oil and gas industry for continuous, in-line, real-time, oil-gas-water flow measurement without fluid separation. An MPFM typically consists of phase-fraction (holdup) velocity (or rate) measurements. It desirable to have homogeneous at location so that representative. horizontal blind-tee pipe-section often installed homogenize downstream vertical Venturi-based flowmeters; however, little information available on effect depth (HBD) homogeneity. In addition, Venturi entrance length (VEL) leading inlet from outlet another design parameter may potentially affect phase distribution. The principle requires liquid properties (e.g. water salinity). local richness makes an ideal measuring properties; excessive HBD reliability measurements properties, because vortices degrade representativeness if too low. This study uses a computational dynamics approach evaluate VEL measurement, including differential-pressure, throat phase-fraction, liquid-property end blind-tee. results are validated with experimental data collected facility.
